A review of Galleria Restaurant by Alex written on Friday 18th of March 2005
I have visited this restaurant on several occasions, and the food has been variable in quality, but generally OK.
The service however, has been consistently poor, even by Cambridge standards. I won't bore you with all the details, but one evening spent at the Galleria was a complete farce. For the first half hour we waited for a table - the drinks that were ordered did not arrive. We then waited a further half hour at our table in a side room with several other drinkless and foodless customers. It then started to get dark, but the waiter did not know where the light switch was. We then saw an empty table in the main restaurant, and moved ourselves there, and 90 minutes after arriving we finally got some food, which was in fact delicious.
When service is this bad, it almost becomes an entertainment in itself. However, the downside is the feeling that your requests for somewhere to sit, something to drink, something to eat, and some light in which to do these things, are viewed as something of a nuisance that upsets the smooth running of the resturant.
