A review of Currys by Thomas written on Wednesday 15th of September 2004
Having purchased a couple of hi-fis and various other smaller items from Dixons, I can recommend them. I’ve found there to be an excellent choice of hi-fis, covering a whole range of styles, sizes and prices. Their prices are generally very reasonable and they often seem to have good offers on, making it a great option for those (like me) on modest salaries. The helpful staff are the sort who will let you browse for a bit, then approach you and offer assistance when you actually want them to, without therefore appearing intrusive.
The first time I bought a hi-fi, I went straight for the cheapest model and they just sold it to me no questions asked, without pushing me to upgrade and pay more money. The second time, I needed a bit more help deciding, so an assistant demonstrated some models, carefully explained them in plain English, and gave his recommendation. OK, so he didn’t do himself any favours by playing me Geri Haliwell, but the fact that I went ahead and bought the machine even after being subjected to this atrocity should say something about the service!
Although my purchases in Dixons have mainly been music-related, there is also a large selection of other electronic equipment, such as computers and accessories, games, TVs, DVDs, videos and cameras.
