A review of Loch Fyne Seafood Bar & Grill by Jo Reynolds written on Friday 18th of June 2004
I booked a table for 6 on a Monday night based on the chain's good reputation. We were surprised to see the restaurant was very full and obviously the workers themselves were surprised by it too as service was slow and many things on the menu were unavailable, including smoked salmon! The worst of this was when they served my friend's starter to him without the sauce it was supposed to come with. When he asked where it was they said they had run out (this being a sauce made of egg yolk, oil, chilli and little more) - they had obviously served him his dish hoping he wouldn't realise part of it was missing! To their credit the waitress offered us a free bottle of the wine we were drinking as she could tell we really weren't pleased with the situation. The food we did have was generally of a good standard (if the main courses were a little on the small side) but their explanation for the lack of availability of many dishes was unsatisfactory - that they'd had a 'busy weekend'. It won't put me off trying a different branch of Loch Fyne but it was quite a disappointing outing in all..
