I couldn't agree with you more V. It's about time certain individuals recognised the fact that the hospitality industry has now reached a stage where its supply of venues is as diverse as the demands of the society for which it serves. Bars are different to pubs for a reason and they do not just happen to resemble what Jman believes to be a "hotel lobby" by accident.I can fully understand that Jman may not enjoy the offer of an lively environment of a social and contempory bar, however, what Jman must learn is that this sort of environment enjoys the offer of his misplaced attitude even less.
Oh yes, and although his point of the patronage being pretentious may have some remote validity, i think that his choice of adjectives when referring to them as "toffee-nosed knob-ends" might cause readers to believe that there speaks a man who enjoys throwing stones in glass houses!? .
