"Dont leave your house!"

We ordered the Camberwell sofa units at the end of January. We were originally told 8-10 weeks which we thought was a long time seeing as most sofa companies take about 4-6 weeks, however, as we really liked the sofas we thought it was worth the wait . When this time was neary up we phoned our local branch only to be put through to a call centre who did not have any details. Eventually we were told we would get a call at the end of April when delivery would be arranged within 14 days. Over the easter weekend (when people generally take a holiday) and certainly before the end of April, sofa workshop phoned us to arrange a delivery. We were away, and my husband had forgotten his mobile on which the message was left. My husband phoned a couple of days later when he got back and the call centre could not find details of our order, even though they obviously did have them otherwise they wouldnt have called us! When he phoned back with our details, we were told that because we had not arranged the delivery within 48 hours of their telephone call, our order was given to someone else and we would have to wait another 3 months, putting the overall delivery date to 7 months. The call centre operative was rude, would not let us speak and was adament this was the policy and it was our fault for not phoning back within 48 hours. The shop have no control over delivery. We were advised that even the managing director has no influence or control over the delivery system. There is no option of sorting this out with anyone. We went to sofa workshop because we thought they were a traditional respectable home grown company. The shop has taken our money and yet does not provide any customer service. It is clear that you do not have an order until the delivery is arranged even though your money is taken. We will be going to trading standards on this, however, my best advice is do not ever leave your house, and sit by your telephone day and night until the sofa is actually sitting in your house! Alternatively, go elsewhere and save yourself the trouble! .
