A review of Efes Restaurant by Jamie Currgher written on Sunday 15th of February 2004
I went to Efes restaurant after reading the reviews on this site. It was a special night for me with my girlfriend coming upto Cambridge for the first time with her parents. We arrived on time but were treated as if we unwanted - they stuck the four of us on a tiny cramped table hardly correct for two and then ignored us while they dealt with a group who the waiters obviously knew well and spoke to in anothe language. After about twenty mins we eventually got our drinks but waited another 30 on our starters. In the meantime we asked if one of the party of friends who were now being so loud could please point the very strong smelling cigarette he was smoking away from our table. He simply laughed out even louder and ignored our request while the waiter who saw it all did nothing. Now feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome we decided to leave and were greeted by an unfriendly attitude when we requested the bill after cancelling our main course. Nobody bothered to explain or apologise for our shoddy treatment and poor service - instead we had to ask for our change. Not nice is about the best I can say about this place and one we definitely will not be going back to in a hurry.
