A review of Tammy by Rose, the fr written on Friday 24th of October 2003
I'm guessing by reading all of your reviews, that your all fairly young, i.e. 13 and under, which wouldn't make me particularly older, at 16, but there's a difference.
I used to shop in Tammy Girl, and yesterday i went in there to find that it had totally changed. It's now a place for young girls to buy the same sort of clothes as in Topshop, etc. but exaggerated.
Most of the reviews have been about the fact that a lot of 'goths' and 'grungers' shop there because it sells the clothes that they want to wear. I think you all need to realise what your actually saying.
Firstly, stop saying that 'goths' hate 'grungers' and vice-versa. You especially, if you were really alternative (as we prefer to be called) you would all understand where you coming from. You can't be a goth just because you shop in Tammy. The clothes they sell are following a fashion. (and btw, listening to Linking Park does NOT make you a goth).
The fact is, young girls such as yourselves should not be dressing in these clothes if you don't understand what it means to be different. By buying your vothes from a chain shop such as Tammy, rather than individual shops in Camden, for example, is ruining the whole concept of being alternative.
I'm sorry if this all sounds patronising, but one day you'll look back and realise that what you're saying is against the whole ideology of being alternative. (use that word from now on, you're all the same really!!) .
