A review of Bakers Oven by Mystery Shopper written on Friday 26th of September 2003
I have complained many times about the Southend High Street branch, so much so, that I was named by the Head Office as "The Mystery Shopper". Recently I went there and my meal of a Jacket Potatoe with cheese was brought to me by a girl who was definitely under age who gave me my plate without telling me that it was hot except for the end that she was holding and therefore I burnt my fingers. In the past I had complained of poor service and tardiness.
I am happy to say that I went there again this week, (I go because I like the food) and found an elderly employee probably a pension was sole job seemed to be clearing tables and picking up bits of the floor. Whilst it is still not up to the standard of other branches that I have visited there is certailnly some improvement.
The other branches I have visited this year were in Lowestoft, Portsmouth and Great Yarmouth. I usually went at llunchtime and bearing in mind the holiday season so they were busy, the staff were polite and smiling, efficient and the tabels were cleared as soon as they were vacated. Well done to those brnches and perhaps Southend could take a leson from them.
