A review of The Venue by Disappointed written on Monday 1st of September 2003
Having tried several times to visit but always finding the place closed, went for lunch on Saturday.
The menu looked very good, and I ordered a salad of Halloumi, asparagus and roast tomatoes from the starter menu to be served as a main with a side order of chips, my partner opted for chicken supreme with mustard mash.
When the food arrived, I'd got the main course salad of poached eggs and asparagus, and was offered some halloumi as well 'if I wanted'.
Well, since that's what I'd ordered, yes please! I was given one slice in a bowl - I hope the real salad has more than that as it seemed rather stingy.
Chicken supreme arrived on top of a dish of risotto, and when questioned, the waiter was confused as to what our problem was. A dish of mash duly brought, but added to the bill as an extra. The food was ok, lacked any strong flavours, and it would have been nice if either of us had got what we ordered!.
