A review of The Plough by Christine Kimberley written on Sunday 8th of May 2011

I have just returned from having a late Sunday Lunch with my 17 year old daughter. Admittedly it was late when we arrived, although the restraunt was still full .... We were tiold that the Chicken roast was unavailable so my daughter ordered the lamb roast and I ordered grilled chicken and the side dish of seasonal vegetables. The waiter was back within 2 minutes to say that the Lamb was now also now unavailable so we ordered the beef roast instead. When the food finally arrived the first impression was disappointing. The beef was soooo rare it still had a pulse, my chicken was very dry and the vegetbles were not only cold but under-cooked and the brocolli and, what I think was supposed to be cabbage, wetre discoloured. We called the waiter back and sent both meals back to the kitchen. another wait.... when they came back the beef was at least cooked but they forgot the vegetables for the roast altogether so the waiter was sent scuttling back to the kitchen again, my veg had been warmed up. To top it all when we expressed our disappointment the waiter mumbled some half hearted appology. On the bill, when he brought it, we had been charged for 3 roast dinner .... I quickly sent that back. The best that the waiter could do was to knock off the charge for 2 diet cokes.... when I examined the bill more closely .... sadly after we had left I see I have still been over charged ABSOLUTELY APPAULING!!!!! I will not be returning there and I will NOT be recommending it.
They do say that if you have a positive dining experience you will tell on average 5 people..... If, however, you have a poor dining experience you will tell on average 9 people..... well I have a lot of friends, and colleagues and I have never felt so compelled to write a public review to warn people against eating at the Plough in Fen Ditton..... It was better when it was the a Hungry Horse franchise .... .
