A review of Limoncello by MarkE written on Wednesday 11th of August 2010
We arrived at Limoncello on a Sunday afternoon. Having driven a long way to get there, we were prepared to excuse the high prices for the quality food.
Initial impressions were confused as all the lights were off even 5 to 10 minutes before closing time so it didn't feel very welcoming.
Then... sadly, we ended up walking out with nothing.
They didn't want to sell us any of their salami because they didn't want to get their machine dirty! It was clear that even though we were there during opening hours, with the lights off and not wanting to sell, their main interest was to shut up shop and go home rather than look after their customers.
I also saw that the cheeses were all pre-cut and wrapped in what looked like clingfilm - which is a very bad way to look after some cheeses and you should be able to buy it off the block anyway.
So we left with very negative impressions - very poor service, pre-cut and wrapped cheeses and very high prices that would embarrass even the most expensive London deli. And if they say they are open to a certain hour, they should be open till that hour, not closing early by not wanting to sell.
Limoncello might be favoured by some when compared to the local competition but on a wider playing field, it falls short.
We will not be shopping there again.
