A review of The Haymakers by Miss squashed written on Sunday 25th of April 2010
I went to see Joshua Radin with a friend at the Haymakers Pub in Chesterton, Cambridge last week and it was so so packed there was literally no room to move. The toilets are at the back of the pub and we were constantly being pushed past. The front door was locked so we also had people pushing past in the other direction to get to the back door to go out for a cigarette. Why was the front door locked it would not have taken much to have someone supervising the door (as it was a ticket only gig). We only bought two drinks all evening as it was impossible to get to the bar without pissing everyone off and missing most of the gig. God only knows what would have happened if there was a fire. It would have been a total stampede. It really spoilt the whole evening for us. I was literally on the verge of seriously losing my temper all night. Haymakers is a good pub that has good bands but I would only visit there again if the band was a very strong favourite that I didnt want to miss..
