A review of Chivers Hartley Ltd by Jacquie S, Canada written on Saturday 3rd of April 2010
I used to make (thick slice)MaMade Marmalade as a young bride. Now I am a Grandma with time on my hands and decided to make the wonderful marmalade of old. Major disappointment. Flavour - yes, colour - yes; BUT WHAT HAVE THEY DONE WITH THE ORANGE RIND? I can actually count the number of pieces in each jar! There is no way that this product can be called marmalade. It is a JELLY with a few small pieces of rind on top. Has the quality of old been sacrificed for profit? Then I am telling you (Chivers) that like another reviewer, you force me to make my marmalade from scratch and you have lost another potential customer. This reminds me of another British firm called Bernardin who tried to stop making "Gem Jars" to cut cost & make more profit. There was a revolt by homemakers here in Canada which forced Bernardin to continue providing those jars. THINK AGAIN, CHIVERS, THERE IS SUCH A THING AS PEOPLE POWER! AND, IT DOES MATTER, IF YOU TRULY CARE..
