A review of The Panton Arms by Rocopoco written on Saturday 21st of November 2009
The bar staff and catering staff were incredibly friendly, but the food was beyond awful. Maybe it was an off day. I ordered penne pasta with a pesto sauce. It was SO salty that it was completley inedible and, at £6.50 or so,a big bowl of tough pasta with a gigantic scoop of green pesto sauce is WAY expensive, despite the small green salad served with it. My friend ordered sausages and mash which she said was 'mediocre', but was horrified when she had a taste of my pasta. I was feeling tired that day and didnt feel inclined to make a fuss at the time, so I merely mentioned how awful the food was on the way out. The barman was charming and polite and took my comments gracefully, but made no attempt to refund me or make any other compensation. I felt there was a lost opportunity there as I certainly wouldn't return for a meal. But, fair is fair, and they are incredibly friendly and welcoming and its a wonderful place for a drink, especially in the summer..
