"Size 10 clothes"

A review of Marks & Spencer by Betty written on Monday 28th of September 2009

Trying to find SIZE 10 MEDIUM clothes in all departments of Marks and Spencer is now almost impossible. Today was typical - no luck with black trousers (2 styles I liked), 3 skirts, a sweater and coat.

There are plenty of shops stocking size 10 clothes for the younger generation but few for the older lady (I am a young 60 something). If not in stock ordering in store was an easy process. Ordering on line is not an option, as having to try on clothes to see if they are suitable (or even fit properly!) makes the non-refundable postage ridiculous.

There always seems to be plently of larger sizes in stock and I understand that only a few size 10 medium are ever in store and they are sold extremely quickly. I realise we smaller ladies are very much in the minority these days but I can assure you that talking to other ladies there are still many of us around eager to buy your clothes. Even staff in many of your stores, which I visit in the area, say this is a common complaint. When people are encouraged to lose weight for health reasons, to stock mainly large sizes does not make sense. Please remember we thinner older ladies still wish remain fashionable and purchase your clothes. We desperately need someone to consider our needs or is profitability the only criteria!!!

Can I also suggest stocking more ladies size 5 shoes, and men size 10, in other than wide fittings.

Incidentally my husband has been told by a member of your staff that there is no demand for size 32 waist 33 leg trousers - hence so few.
