A review of Whittard Of Chelsea by Mihaela written on Tuesday 5th of May 2009
I have been recently called for a job interview at Whittard, in Cambridge. The shop looks very pretty and its good quality products are definitely exquisite!
The interview went fine in a very relaxed atmosphere and without being annoyed by the long classical list of questions they usually ask in this kind of situations. I have been told that I will be given an answer on whether I was accepted or not in two days time (maximum). A week has passed and I haven't heard from them. In the mid time, I have been offered a job that I have long hopped for in promoting my career, which made me forgot about all previous job offers.
Ten days later I received a notice from the post office informing me that I have been posted a letter through the special delivery service (un-specifying the sender). The 'special posting service' also involved a trip to the post office and a tax of £1.50 that I had to pay for as the sender couldn’t probably afford the cost of the stamp. I was waiting anxiously for the surprise letter, which arrived sooner after this. The letter (written in a conventionally professional style) was posted by Whittard and it was meant to inform me that I have been unsuccessful for the position I have applied for in their company. This news didn't have either a good or bad impact on me. Nevertheless, could anybody tell me: is there recently a tax that one has to pay when called for job interviews? Maybe there is a needed excise in the circumstances of the new global recession that such a prestigious company such as Whittard had to adhere to.
Sincerely,
Mihaela
