A review of Abington Pottery by Jonathan Darrell written on Saturday 25th of October 2008
If you are looking for a pleasant way to spend an hour or so, are able to travel a few miles out of Cambridge, and want to browse display rooms of high quality craft pottery in an atmosphere of medieval charm then look no further. Abington pottery oozes craftsmanship and history in equal measure. The display rooms, situated in the 14th Century house and garden, are tastefully displayed with David Lane's wide range of stoneware pottery, with something to suit all pockets and tastes. The range includes bespoke items for weddings or special events through dinner services and tea sets down to small individual items. David Lane has recently retired from exhibiting on his market stall at Cambridge market where he had a presence for over 30 years. If stoneware pottery is not for you, there is a superb range of high quality greetings cards, glassware, candles and wooden toys. You could try a delicious homemade tea and cake in the tearoom, but remember to mind your head when you go up the narrow stairs!.
