A review of The Old Spring by Andrew written on Thursday 16th of October 2008
We adjourned here from the Fort St George, which after its refurb is still suffering from queues and catatonic staff.
The Old Spring however boasts helpful, efficient and friendly employees, who even carried a high chair outside from the main bar for us. The place was busy, but the food still arrived promptly.
Our party had: a generous ploughman's, two fine homemade burgers and a dressed crab salad with toasted ciabatta and coriander mayonnaise. My crab was fresh-tasting and large - my only slight niggle was that one ciabatta wasn't quite enough to accompany a crab that big!
Even the IPA tasted particularly fresh. All-round good value. Must go back to sample the puddings....
