A review of Brasserie Gerard by The Welsh Windbag written on Monday 3rd of March 2008
....restaurant to restaurant.
If you want the real Chez Gerrard experience go to Chancery Lane or the one on the balcony walk at Covent Garden. It will cost you but its worth it.
If you are going to the franchised chain of restaurants they are not consistent one to the next:
In Cobham we experienced the best of the best of experiences. In Henley the most indifferent and petulantly patronising off-hand.
We suspect that this is the pattern accross the country and that in places with a high footfall of undiscerning uncomplaining English middle class customers ignorant of anything like the real French fine dining experience (Henley, Oxford, Cambridge, etc...) they get away with it.
Better off eating at Cafe Rouge and paying twenty quid for an honest twenty quids worth....
