A review of Rainbow Café by Kate written on Saturday 26th of January 2008
I have eaten at the Rainbow cafe several times. The lentil soup is good, but is pretty much the same as one I'd make at home. The cottage cheese and spinach lasagne is superb, as are the deserts. My husband had an absolutely stunning pasta and vegetable dish with courgettes and lots of garlic, recommended by a friendly and helpful waiter.
All in all, I've had several good experiences. Yes, it's pricey for a cafe, but in reality this is a vegetarian 'restaurant'. As such, it's great for an occasional treat for non-vegetarians who just happen to enjoy and appreciate vegetarian and vegan foods in a friendly non-pretentious atmosphere. (Our other favourite restaurant is Teri-Aki - another small, cozy, busy, informal restaurant with great unpretentious food and fresh ingredients).
Needless to say, I'll be visiting Rainbow Cafe again!.
