"Don't be little about it"

So many of the reviews of Hills Road are bare negative. Many put forward their view that Hills Road is full of snobs and public school kids, which is really untrue. As a state educated entrant I have found many friends from different backgrounds but as I myself was unprejudiced they were more than friendly and I fully expect that they will last as long as some of the friends I have had since birth. The problem is not that many are actually from private schools, but the preconceived ideas that State school students have about them - often, the snobbery is the other way round. A few of my friends who came from the same school as me have shocked me with their own attitudes towards meeting new people - as self-proclaimed 'chavs', they feel that as they attend an amazingly high-achieving college they must "**** the system" in a different way.

People complaining about the lack of reading around the subjects done are clearly misled. Reading around the subject is done by you, for you; it's an expression of your own interest. The teachers are there to get your grades high enough to allow you to continue working for you long after you have left, since there seems to be increasing emphasis on A level grades. Believe me, if the teachers spent their whole time trying to entertain you, you would end up learning about half of that which is necessary, and guess what, you'd bitch about that too. The nature of the syllabus is not determined by Hills Road and if you are complaining about education in general then you need to look to this Nanny-State to satisfy your blatant desire to blame someone.

I think that if you go to Hills Road, it is perfectly easy to enter into the spirit of it and have an amazing two years. The people who have trouble are those who feel they are betraying their 'working class' roots by attending and pick holes where there are none..
