A review of Baroosh by A Drinker written on Tuesday 10th of June 2003
Full marks to the interior designers, as this bar does indeed look very impressive. Good location too, right in the centre.
However, I think it is trying a bit too hard to be a London bar and is a bit too s****y for its own good. The drinks are very expensive even by Cambridge standards (two bottles of Michelob cost me almost £6) and they have a strict dress code (e.g. no shorts), which is fair enough in a club, but this is still a BAR, whatever else it tries to be.
Also, it gets extremely busy in the evenings (there's sometimes a bigger queue outside than for Fez) and the music is too loud, so it's hard to have a decent conversation and order drinks.
But if you want to enjoy lavish surroundings and pretend you're rich, it's the place to be..
