"In stock but we can't and may never find it!!"

Just been to B & Q Cortonwood, South Yorkshire. They are doing up the store and its looking a lot fresher. Lots new staff standing about in groups doing nothing though.hmmmmmmmmm.

Chose a bathroom mirror from their Emma range £79.Ask about fixing to wall, young girl calls over older male expert, we ask him and he says he doesn't know!My partner gives him withering look and expert examines mirror and advises us how to fix but declares it will NEVER come off wall again. Thats scarey and I don't really believe him but he looks impressed with his knowledge.

We then told not in stock need to order. As assistant ordering, a colleague interupts saying she knows they have 7 in stock she's even seen them, computer confirms 7 in stock ..... brilliant!

This is good because have been told we must pay £5.00 delivery charge to get item delivered to our home or to store........doesn't say this on the advert!

Anyway complete joy as in stock so no need to pay said £5.00 extra, and we can put mirror up today.

Assistant sent to retrieve mirror comes back after 10 seconds to say she can't find it and it will have to be ordered after all.We ask why can't it be found? Told... Oh! lots of stock is never found!It could be right at the back and we can't see it! I ask for assistant to ring me when one is found thus saving me £5.00 and a possible 5 week wait for mirror to arrive. Well, she says, it might take 2 weeks to find and as I've said we have some stock that is never found!I ask who is in charge of stock because 7 items at £79 is alot of money and surely they don't accept that it can just vanish or can they? She says I think you should just order it! Group of new staff still huddled together doing nothing! Want to bang my head on wall but resist.

Leave phone number and ask her to get in touch when found, she looks at me as though I'm asking her to locate and deliver Holy Grail to me within 24 hours!

Go to customer services and ask for manager, he wisely isn't in but I can see his deputy.Deputy advised of my query by helpful youth in pinny ( get out son and get a better job quick........think he will as he looks bright ).Deputy says via youth......Pay the £5.00 and all is solved. I tell youth I want to see deputy, he goes and comes back, red faced saying he's on phone. Tell youth not to worry I can see he's up against it, I'll just leave it.

Feel embarrassed for youth and leave!.
