A review of Baroosh by Nick written on Wednesday 1st of August 2007
The worst meal I have eaten in Cambridge in fifteen years: Fishcake with Nasi Goreng. The fishcake was entombed in a skin so tough it required plastic explosives to liberate the interior, but that was nothing compared to the Nasi Goreng... light, fluffy, delicately spiced? Nope. A plate of soupy, overspiced stodge, with the consistency (and appeal) of vomit - and I had to wait over half an hour for the privilege when the restaurant was pretty much empty! I called the Manager and was told that "the rice sometimes lets us down" - I countered that it was surely the person COOKING the rice who is letting him down. "Not really," he replied, "we have one of the best chefs in Cambridge" - and then added, seemingly without a trace of irony, "Besides all the rice was pre-cooked earlier today". I told him it was the worst food I'd ever eaten in Cambridge and he replied "I disagree" - which was an odd response, to say the least, as I haven't noticed him shadowing me on my culinary expeditions in the city. Avoid this place like the plague - the service is slow, the food is disgusting and the Manager will disregard your complaints..
