A review of Yim Wah House by Growbag written on Monday 11th of June 2007

I used to drive past this restaurant and wonder how it vould make any money stuck ou in the middle of nowhere (this is before Cambourne was built). Now I've eaten there I know. The food is seriously good. It's not cheap, but then who wants to eat cheap chinese food? The menu is varied and interesting. Although it includes the usual favourites (crispy duck anyone?) it also has very unusual items which are delicious.

The service is friendly and quick. They do try to fit two sittings in which means you have to be out by 8 or not sit down to eat until after 8, but it's a small price to pay. The ambience is good, and even when it's full it never feels over crowded.

My only grumble is that smoking is allowed in the bar area, and the smoke does waft through to that end of the restaurant despite the fact there is a partial wall in between. Also you have to walk through the bar area to get to the loos. But I assume this will be resolved after the smoking ban comes into force.

My one piece of advice about this restaurant is to book - we've turned up on a wet Tuesday evening in october to find no space. .
