A review of B & Q by B&Q Lady written on Tuesday 22nd of May 2007
B&Q is the UK's leading DIY and garden centre retailer and is the number one DIY retailer in Europe and the third largest in the world. It has a turnover of £3.9 billion a year. In light of those facts I think it is ridiculous that people are willing to boycott it due to reading a number of bad experiences online. Due to it's large turnover and 39,000 staff and countless contracts with external companies there are bound to be mistakes, and mistakes which cost the customer money, is that not to be expected? The answer is yes, and that's why there is a complaints procedure. It may not be PERFECT but it is a well oiled machine, therefore sustaining it's position in the retail world.
Don't the people who read these reviews realise that people who have bad experiences are the MINORITY? There are channels the disgruntled customers can take, the Head Office address and telephone number are on the website at www.diy.com and how difficult would it be to go into a store, ask to speak to a manager and resolve your issue? If they ask you to phone a company, phone it front of them for instance? They are only people, and if you voice your concerns they are not likely to waft their orange apron and disappear, they will help you. Of course there are going to be bad apples amongst the staff, again the employers are only human and people do lie in interviews about how hard they will work etc.
All that said, I entitled this review 'A reasoned opinion' I am a current B&Q employee and you could argue that I am biased but I think I have been impartial. I look forward to your responses..
