A review of La Margherita by Angelo written on Monday 30th of October 2006
I am Italian, and I try to be objective when it comes to consider Italian restaurants in England. It is hard to be prejudjmental. Particularly, when after 4 years in England I have found very few of them which I would consider decent. That's why I tends to avoid them.
This time, I decided to endulge in a Pizza in La Margherita.
It would be unfair to call the greesy food that I have been served, "Pizza". And it is not fair for a restaurant, to claim that it was.
It was a small, round, very thick, partially uncooked slab of dough topped with greesy sauce.
Altough, the ingredient might not have been totally wrong, what I found shameless was that they did not even bothered to cook it in a proper oven.
It was cooked in a tray. And if you have a little experience of what a Pizza should taste/look like, you know that when you cook it in a tray, it can be nice and tasty, but it just does not taste like a Pizza.
If I wanted something of that sort, I could have done it myself, in my little electric oven with a far better result!
A restaurant that does not have the means to prepare a dish, should just have the dignity to refrain from cooking it. At least do not call it Pizza.
Invent some name, like focaccia, pizzotto, schifezza...at least people will not be disappointed!
