A review of Browns Restaurant by Terri white written on Wednesday 25th of October 2006
Terri White - Sudbury
eight of us went for a meal at Browns on sunday afternoon around 5pm, were told 30mins wait for table
so headed for the bar - barman too interested in talking to a buddy than to serve me - it then took 20 minutes to get 8 drinks (only one was a cocktail)we eventually sat down at 5.45pm & ordered immediately. our starters took 45 minutes & were very nice, our main courses took a further hour by this time 3 who hadn't had starters were very hungry. I had the fish pie which was very dry, salmon, 3 prawns & 2 mussels but no sauce at all, the mash on top had big lumps of hard potato in it, i left 1/2 of it. 3 of us had the burger at £9.50 which is a disgusting price anyway & turned out to be bland & dry, 1 had the mushroom pudding which smelt & was delicious but again was overpriced, the rest had the chicken which was very moist but the ham on top smelt very peculiar so no-one ate it!! I have been twice now & not happy either time. The bill turned out to be £30 a head which covered 1 bottle of wine, 2 cocktails, 4 pints & 3 soft drinks - we were shocked at the cost - how they can also charge a service charge for utter lack of it I just dont know!! I will not be returning ever.
