A review of Midsummer House by Paul written on Wednesday 29th of March 2006
Without a doubt this is the best restaurant in Cambridge, the food is amazing both. The ala carte menu has a good and changing selection of starters, main courses and desserts. Before the starter you'll be served with olives, freshly baked bread and two mous bouche, we had a pink grapefruit and champagne foam and a warm prawn cocktail with articoke foam, you'll get another mous bouche before dessert and french pastries with warm apricot sauce and creme anglais after followed by you coffee/tea and home made chocolates (I recommend the tarragon and the lavender ones). The cheese board is excellent, I only wish I was hungry enough to manage both a pudding and the cheese! There is a very extensive (and sometimes expensive) wine list and a good selection of other beverages and the wine waiter is very helpful.
All in all it's an amazing dining experience for that special occasion..
