A review of La Margherita by Neil Ricketts. written on Tuesday 7th of March 2006
After a tip-off from a usually reliable source I was really excited about La Margherita. Now don’t get me wrong its not bad...its just not good either. Someone has taken a charming old building with character capable of playing host to a stunning eatery with a unique feel, and created a fake Prezzo, or Ask, or anyone of the generic Italian chains. The menu is limited and verging on dull, there is just nothing there to make you go back! The food is ok, the pizza is better at the Red Cow (BRB) and cheaper, the pasta is better at ASK. The service is pleasant and efficient, I'd love to see Gordon Ramsey get in there and make the owners realise their potential!! .
