A review of The Eagle by SB written on Monday 6th of March 2006
I've been eating at the Eagle for ten years, but I won't be going back. Sunday lunch at the carvery was awful - like a college canteen on a bad day. Stodgy food and grudgingly small portions, complemented by breathtakingly rude staff.
After I'd paid and sat down with friends to eat, a waitress came up to the table, leant across and said in a really sarcastic voice, "Excuse me, but are you going to pay?". We were all very embarrassed. I produced the receipt, and she left without an apology. I went back later to see the manager, but was intercepted by the same woman, who simply laughed at me when I explained why I was there. Nice!
Obviously all that tourist claptrap about Watson and Crick means that they don't have to worry about giving good service any more. Very disappointed..
