A review of The Alma by Tom written on Sunday 27th of November 2005
This place came under new management about 2 months ago, and even though it's Green King now (I know, I know, terrible) It's possibly better than before. The owners are very very friendly people and the atmosphere up at the bar is always chatty and welcoming. The Ales are top notch (Old Bob!) and the food is proper good home cooked, good value nosh. If you don't want to sit up at the bar, there's plenty of space if you get there before 8, and a fair bit after that still. Nice cheap jukebox, Pool table in an awful position, but that's just part of the fun. Unfortunately sometimes gets colonized by college students. It must be a great pub though, because I don't go anywhere else given the choice and I have to cycle 3 miles to get there. .
