A review of Al Casbah by Lella written on Monday 24th of October 2005
The food is excellent, although simple and not very original but really enjoyable!! On the other hand the service is really bad. You need to be especially careful if you have food allergies. Make sure the waiter understands you (in our case the waiter hardly understood the meaning of the word “gluten) and that the food they have prepared is in accordance with that (in our case they promised the dish would not contain gluten, but the rice contained vermicelli and they made no attempt to alter the recipe).
It is also very important to know that you should never hand your empty plate to a male waiter (especially not to the owner’s son) because that is apparently a woman’s job in this restaurant.
Overall, be careful about what you say and ask for, they might get personal and lay their hands on you!.
